Missy Foy
Meet
Missy Foy. In 2000, she was the first person with diabetes to qualify
for the U.S. Olympic marathon trials. She competes in marathons (26.2
mile), and 50-mile and 100-kilometer (62.5 mile) ultramarathons. By
2005, she was ranked ninth in the country among
ultramarathoners, after winning the Umstead (NC) Endurance Run 50
miler in 7:15:06 . She broke the course record by about 20
minutes.
In addition to being named the Carolina Runner of the Year
for 1997 and 1998, she was the recipient of the USA Track & Field
Athlete in Development Award (NC) in 1998 and 1999, was awarded
the LifeScan International Athletic Achievement Award in 1999,
and served as chair of the North Carolina USA Track and Field
Women’s Long Distance Running Committee for three years.

Bobby
is an accomplished XC athlete from Winston Salem, NC, including NCAA
All-American and All-ACC honors. He currently is battling back
from multiple injuries from his days as at NC State.

Joey Anderson (aka Ultraman)
Joey
currently works at TAF Raleigh and runs for the NCRC/TAF Team. He
typically runs Ultramarathon events, but you will find him at many
shorter events in the area as well. If he isn't running the event,
he is probably volunteering with his faithful NCRC members.
